During the periods when it is not as intense and long days, I usually put a lot of emphasis on recovery. As a former burnout, I know that my body needs to recharge the battery every now and then to cope with the most intense periods. During December we usually have a slightly quieter period, we are waiting to receive the deliveries in the spring but are done with the design process. The stores are busy with sales and therefore do not spend time on purchases. It just gives us some time for recovery.
I know for a fact that I usually have a bit of an extra slow start in the morning this time of year, does anyone recognize themselves? So what I try to do then is turn it around, get up as usual and have a leisurely breakfast with the family, then I train to get going, strengthen my body and give myself an extra boost. This means that I start the working day a little later than I usually do, but it gives me more energy to work and also with creativity.
Another benefit that exercise gives me is that I get more creative thoughts. I come up with ideas that I didn't think of before and of course I feel that I am taking care of my body and giving it love by giving it movement.
I try to do some form of exercise every day, whether it's 10 push-ups or a full strength workout or running my 1.6km streak. It's the training that comes off that makes a difference, because if I only do 10 push-ups, the feeling after the 10 will be better than the feeling before. And it's the feeling of well-being in my own body I'm talking about. The best feeling there is.
In addition to training, I usually listen to wonderful podcasts about well-being, I usually cook good food, I usually bake and dance in the kitchen. I simply try to be more in the moment and not think ahead so much.
Do you have any good tips on how you usually recover after or before stressful periods?
Have a wonderful day
