Materialval - Ädelstenar i herrarmband

THE MATERIAL

In our men's bracelets, we mostly work with precious stones, stainless steel and leather. The products that have details in gold or are entirely in gold then have a bottom in stainless steel and then a plating in 18 carat gold. The leather is mainly calf leather, but we also use lamb nappa. Our jewelry is 100% nickel-free.

THE STONES

The stones that we mainly use are Agate, Tiger's Eye, Jasper, Lapis Lazuli and Bronzite. Agate, Tiger Eye and Jasper belong to Quartz (silica) and are formed in mountain crevices between the mountains, from water solutions containing silicic acid. They look different depending on the different colors of these water solutions which in turn color the stones. An agate, for example, can be both mottled, have structure and be smooth and single-coloured. Agates that we usually use are Onyx (black agate), Mossagat (Green), Blue matt agate and various single colored agates. Of jasper, we mainly use Picasso jasper, Leopard jasper, Dalmatian jasper and Träjaspis. Tiger eye comes in a range of colors from burgundy to honey brown.

A Bronzite is actually an iron-containing mineral that acquires a bronze-like tone thanks to an incomplete alteration.

Lapis Lazuli is a mineral with an intense blue color that was once used to make the color ultramarine.

We use jade when we want to produce a colored stone in a special shade. The jade stone is easy to color because it exists as a solid, almost transparent white.

The lava stone, or Basalt as it is also called, is black and does not weigh very much, it comes from dried lava.

Obsidian or Snowflake as we usually call it, as it has small white "snowflakes" on it, it also comes from a rock that was formed from lava that solidified very quickly.

The turquoise is a softer stone that is turquoise in color, but it is also naturally creamy white. The dark veins in the stone are iron ocher.

MANUFACTURING

Most of the stones come from rock crevices or bedrock. They are split as close to their correct size as possible, then sawed even closer and then ground and polished. If the stone is to be colored, it is done before it is polished. The coloring is done just like with clothes, before the stone is polished, it is put in a dye bath to get its right color. Then you polish away the remaining color and the stone gets its fine luster. When the stone has been given the right size and color, they are made into jewelry.
